Re: 3 Years Later: Evaluating the Kickstarter Phenomenon

Copied from Discord: I'd like to apologize for being unable to deliver any positive news. One of the reasons I try to avoid talking about in-progress projects is because they have a tendency to fail. Due to the time-sensitive nature of events in September I broke that personal policy (in this threa...

Re: Ty-Chou talks with Television's Lance Falk about SWAT KATS

Good questions Ty-Chou! Thanks for doing this interview.

It's definitely interesting to hear from the people who worked on the show since they bring such unique perspectives to the table.

Re: 3 Years Later: Evaluating the Kickstarter Phenomenon

Did the Swat Kats have a proven track record though? It aired for two seasons and fizzled out. That's kinda the opposite of what I was saying. What I meant to imply was that the three rebooted shows I cited—DuckTales, Samurai Jack, and Powerpuff Girls—were already set up for success since they had ...

Re: 3 Years Later: Evaluating the Kickstarter Phenomenon

These are some really great points. Trying to restart a show is very tricky business, and it would be very easy to botch it and get it wrong. And, as Tarnish mentioned, these were all cartoons with proven track records. Did the Swat Kats have a proven track record though? It aired for two seasons an...

Re: What would you like to see in the new series?

Perhaps it could be revealed that Commander Feral was a wrestler at one point in his past. Imagine a scene in which Feral, and possibly some of his troops, are cornered by bad guys. The situation looks hopeless. But Feral decides he's just not going to succumb quietly. His old training just may save...

Re: 3 Years Later: Evaluating the Kickstarter Phenomenon

I understand your concerns. It sounds like the whole process would have benefited from more transparency, as well as a more clearly-delineated timeline and schedule. The whole thing has this up-in-the-air "we'll get to it when we get to it" feeling. In a way that's apropos. The Swat Kats t...

Re: Di's Designs

This was originally going to have hints of inspiration from Carl Laemmle's 1932 epic The Mummy starring Karloff the Uncanny, but the shots I had in mind weren't working. I ended up going for a bit of both Mummy films starring Brendan Fraser and Tom Cruise. BTW, thanks for the kind comments on the p...
