Bloopers and Oddities

Postby Kooshmeister » Sun Apr 09, 2017 6:39 pm

No show is perfect, obviously. So here in this thread, I'll be going over various animation and coloring errors or oddities in different episodes, in order.

This isn't an animation error, per say, but Jack and Tom change their position around the chest in-between shots. When they first opening it, they're standing directly in front of it, putting them directly to his left as he's lying down. And yet when Tom reaches for the pocketwach, suddenly he and Jack are standing at the other end of the chest, putting them at the Pastmaster's feet.

Image
Image
Image

The Pastmaster's eye opens, but then is shut again in the shot of Tom reacting.

Image
Image

First missing tail shot in the series as the Pastmaster runs off.

Image

When the grave robbers confront the Pastmaster, Tom has Jack's yellow fur coloring. We can tell it's Tom because Jack wears boots whereas Tom wears ordinary shoes. So either this is supposed to be Tom and they colored him incorrectly, or it was meant to be Jack and they used Tom's character model.

Image

One of the Enforcer pilots has the dark gray part of his helmet colored light gray.

Image

T-Bone's arm stripes disappear for a few frames.

Image

When confronting T-Bone about possibly lying, Jake's thumb is colored black like his glove.

Image

Dr. Sinian's tail isn't visible in this shot, although it's possible it's just beneath the table out of our view.

Image

In one shot, Dr. Sinian's ear is colored the same as her hair.

Image

The guard's tail is missing when he's seen from behind.

Image

Dr. Sinian's tail is colored the same as her hair, dark brown, instead of the light brown of the rest of her fur, as she and Callie leave to investigate the strange noise.

Image

When they're hanging off the drain pipe, both Callie and Sinian's tails are colored the same as their hair.

The sabertooth tiger is plastered to the wall of the roof stairwell, then he's over the door, then he's back on the wall again.

Image
Image
Image

When the Enforcers arrive, there are a couple of other, smaller vehicles in addition the cruiser the Sergeant gets out of. They disappear between shots.

Image

Callie is missing her pompadour when the group is looking down from the roof.

Image

When the Pastmaster removes the Tome of Time from the display case, the front cover is up and the binding is facing the audience. However, as he turns around, it changes positions in his hands.

Image
Image

When the Sergeant gets out, he leaves the driver's side door open, but it's closed when the Pastmaster opens the time vortex, and remains closed until the car gets crushed by the dinosaur. The Sergeant is also missing his tail when he first gets out.

Image
Image
Image
Image

The Pastmaster and Sergeant are nowhere near the dinosaur's feet when it first lands. However, one shot later, they're back.

Image
Image

As the Turbokat takes off, Dr. Sinian's wave looks hilarious like a Nazi salute. TboneLaughCait

Image

When reacting to the SWAT Kats going through the vortex, Callie and Dr. Sinian are suddenly down on the street whereas moments earlier they were on the roof.

Image

Razor's tail disappears for one frame when he's reacting to the Plesiosaurs.

Image

The establishing shot of the museum earlier had the tar pit right next to it on screen right. The Megasaurus rex, after being summoned, heads down the street screen right, putting both museum and tar pits behind him. But despite never changing direction, he comes up on the tar pit again. This impossible unless he went in a circle (or there are two tar pits both called "Megakat City Tar Pits").

The Enforcer blockade also changes position from directly in front of the tar pit to further along down the road so that the dinosaur can stumble in without stepping on them.

Image
Image
Image
Image

The Pastmaster is missing his cape when he's shown in closeup on the dinosaur's nose.

Image

The commando Feral talks to at the blockade is missing his tail in one shot.

Image

When launching the gas grenades, someone forgot to color the logos on the Enforcers' uniforms.

Image

The Pastmaster's ears are missing in one shot.

Missing tail shot. It may be somewhere behind him, though.

Image

On the roof, when the Pastmaster is talking to Callie, he has the Tome of Time tucked one arm, and the pocketwatch held up, firing magical energy from it. However when we see his shadow on the wall, he's holding the book over his head with both hands. But then he's back to his original position when Callie and Dr. Sinian rush him. I suppose he could've positions between shots, but that would require no longer holding the watch up, which makes this shadow shot impossible; him holding the watch while it fires magical energy is what is casting his shadow. In addition, the book goes from being under his left arm to being under his right, and the watch also changes hands from right to left.

Image

In a couple of shots, Manx has (uncolored) stripes on his tie.

Image

Next up, the series' probably most error-prone episode!

Oh man. I like looking through this series and seeing if I can find stuff like this. I've done a small amount on my Tumblr (which I hardly post to anymore...)

Love it or hate it, I think The Giant Bacteria takes the cake for weird errors, but we'll see.

During the opening chase scene, the sky goes from green to red, then back to green.

Image
Image
Image

When the Enforcers fish what are supposed to be Morbulus' empty clothes from the water, his ears and tail are visible. When the clothes are dropped in front of Callie, the tail is gone but the ears remain. Only when Callie takes the helmet off (what was keeping it on?) do they vanish, too, finally. The arms also change position; from lying at the sides to sticking out in front when Callie removes the helmet.

Image
Image
Image
Image

When the chopper first lands, the interior is a blank, gray void. But it has a fully drawn interior when it cuts to a closer shot of Feral.

Image
Image

Special mention goes to Feral's Sonic the Hedgehog eyes.

Image

As the group of reporters move screen right, the short orange-haired reporter loses his tail between frames.

Image
Image

That guy's height fluctuates wildly, too. In the previous shots, he seems to be the same height as all the other reporters, but then when seen in long shot, he's practically a midget, but then he's taller in other shots. And in the second screenshot there, the corner of the Enforcer logo on Feral's bicep is uncolored.

Image
Image
Image

The sign for the salvage yard says "Megacat" instead of "Megakat."

Image

T-Bone's seat is missing, and his seatbelt appears to be hooked up to thin air.

Image

A pretty well-known one; when Callie drives into the garage, she's sitting on the wrong side.

Image

Chance takes his hat off to fix his hair... the puts it back on, negating the fact he just fixed his hair. Weird.

Image
Image

Chance defies the laws of physics to toss Callie's keys to Jake. He tosses them right, even though Jake is behind him on the other side of the glass... but Jake still catches them.

Image
Image
Image

How did Callie drive into the garage? The tow truck is blocking the way.

Image

The tow truck is gone suddenly in this shot, and Callie's car is in its place.

Image

In an error that would prove somewhat common, Callie's tail is colored yellow instead of her regular fur color. Also, her green car is now red.

In the wide shot of Viper's lab, Morbulus is facing forward (and missing his tail). But when it cuts to a closeup, he's turned the other way.

Image
Image

The chemistry equipment on Viper's table changes depending which angle we're seeing it from. Also, for some reason, smoke is coming out of the eyepiece of the microscope. We also can't see Viper and Morbulus' legs under the table in the second screenshot. They're just cut off at the waist.

Image
Image
Image

When seen in profile, Morbulus' front eyes blink, but not his rear ones.

Image

The TV Jake finds in the junk pile and the TV seen later, which are supposed to be the same one, don't remotely resemble one another.

Image
Image

The spot over the cow's right eye disappears between shots.

Image
Image

When the farmer comes out of the barn, we should see him through the window, but we don't.

Image

Jonny comes and goes. He's seen when the bacteria monster first emerges from the sewer. But then we see a different cameraman filming the monster, but then he changes to Jonny again. Or at least it's the same guy, just now colored like Jonny, since the hat is facing the opposite way.

Image
Image
Image

The other camerman is seen earlier, as a random extra fleeing from the monster. Maybe to get his camera.

Image

When Callie and Manx are being pulled up to the chopper, the interior is once again a blank gray void.

Image

The bacteria monsters visibly arrive at Megakat Biochemical Labs no less than three times, the first two being shown here. Their sizes also change wildly throughout the second and third acts with no consistency.

Image
Image

Feral's helmet is gone in one shot and he's just wearing goggles on his forehead.

Image

When T-Bone first notices one of the bacteria monsters is missing, we're shown two one-eyed ones, meaning the missing one must be the two-eyed one. But when the missing monster attacks the subway train, it only has one eye. This means that at one point, impossibly, there are three one-eyed bacteria monsters.

During one shot in the subway chase, Razor is unmasked.

Image

When the remaining monsters arrive at the lab for the third (!) time, someone forgot to color their shadows in.

Image

When Dr. Zyme turns his head, his right cheek fur is colored the same as his hair.

Image

When seen from behind, Zyme's hair curls down. But when seen from the front or the side, it curls up. He also goes from holding two flasks to a single test tube between shots when he turns around to face Feral.

Image
Image
Image
Image

As the remaining two monsters arrive, one of them has two eyes again.

Image
Image

The SWAT Kats clearly kill a bacteria monster with one eye, meaning the remaining creature should be the two-eyed, one, but, nope, it's only got one eye, too!

Image
Image
Image

Callie and Dr. Zyme appear to have been animated in between the inside and outside of the building, considering the window frames are visibly behind them.

Image

In this shot, the tip of Zyme's tail, which ought to be brown, is colored the same as the rest of his fur.

Image

Zyme is once again animated in outside of the window, given where the frame is, and his pants are colored white like his lab coat, and the tip of his tail is colored incorrectly again.

Image

Zyme's tail is missing as he reacts to the broken window, and the lower part of his hair disappears for a single frame.

Image
Image

The bacteria monster's hand has two of its "bumps" (or whatever) colored yellow to look like eyes, even though when it cuts to the exterior view of the building, it's seen with its hand inside the window, not its head.

Image
Image

Oh, and it's back to two eyes again.

Image

Part of Dr. Viper's nose isn't colored in the closeup of him grabbing the canisters of Katalyst 99.

Image

The broken window fixes itself, then goes back to being broken.

Image
Image

Another well-known screwup, where T-Bone and Razor are so concerned for Callie that they swap colors.

Image

The final bacteria monster goes back to having one eye again, and it'll remain this way for the rest of its screentime.

Image

The window is fixed again, only to get smashed all over when the Turbokat plows through it.

Image

We see Feral and Manx poking out the side door of Feral's chopper, and Feral has his hand lowered. But when the Turbokat flies past it, Manx has disappeared and Feral's arm is raised again. And the chopper interior is a gray void again.

Image
Image

And that'll do it for tonight. ViperLaughCait

First episode, maybe being a pilot episode, could have understable errors, but there are worse ones in others (someone was probably sleeping in work... TboneLaughCait ).

"MegaCat City"... OMG That's...!? How...!? Wha...!? Who was responsable of this blasfemy!?!? TboneSwearCait

That's really awesome stuff! I wonder what else you will be able to find, some of that I had never noticed before.
