I believe (I think either Mark or Koosh can confirm) that the script for The Metallikats was the first script for the show ever written. It's in a format that would suggest it was written prior to the other scripts. Downloadable as a PDF here:

Well, the number 9302 and the reference to "The Giant Bacteria" seem to indicate that this was the second episode, but this was still very early in the show's development.

And speaking of Early Installment Weirdness:

T-BONE / RAZOR (SINGING)
When evil rears its ugly head
And the wheels of justice fail
Here come the SWAT Kats to save the day
And whip that villain's tail!

(jaw drops, and not in a good way)

I am so glad they got rid of this.

I dunno. I kinda would've liked to hear them sing.

There's also this in the script

Mark's right. Its production number 9302 and references to one prior episode mean that The Giant Bacteria was made first. Assuming we ever find its script, I think we'll see it's in a similar format.

I like to hear T-bone & Razor sing

It would have to be done in the style of Kenny Loggins. With the random 'Danger Zone!' added for awesomeness!

Something I noticed about the "Metallikats" script: It has a big FINAL stamp on the cover, but it has numerous differences from the finished episode. This may mean that the three unproduced scripts might have been revised further if they'd actually been made. Could this explain the "Succubus!"/"Curse of Kataluna" name change mystery? Would any of the plot holes have been filled? We'll probably never know, but it's fun to speculate, isn't it?

A very good point. It's something that I've often thought about, myself; how different from their scripts would the unfinished episodes have been? The differences between the finished episodes' scripts and the final product is often a lot of little things that add up as opposed to anything major. I.e., the basic stories have remained the same. So I'm pretty sure Succubus! and Turmoil II would've been more or less the same in their final form. But, looking at the outline for The Deadly Pyramid and how it differs from the final episode, it does make me wonder about what The Doctors of Doom and whether we really can consider it even tentatively canon like the other two. Clearly a lot changed from The Deadly Pyramid's outline to the actual episode, enough that I would never suggest its outline was canon, and so I'm prepared to accept that The Doctors of Doom did, too (assuming it ever did proceed to script form), or would've (assuming it never got beyond an outline).

"Deadly Pyramid" outline? I must have missed that memo. (goes to look up thread on that episode)

It's in the art book. Part of it, anyway, the first page.
