From what I remember, they are supposed to get better, upgraded equipment to bring them back on par with everyone else in the reboot. It;s possible that the icons and numbers, could belong to whoever is providing them the new gear.

My Theory is that, that's not actually Chance and Jake, but their sons we are seeing model of.

Do you think that when working in the garage, that Chance and Jake each have their own parts of the cars they focus on? I can see Chance being a body and engine Kat myself. While Jake handles the computer and electrical side of the repairs.
