Re: TFW you forget you made an account here

Well i got into flying thanks to my grandpa. My avatar is a photo of his Super Sabre. He has been friends with my former boss who's flight school i trained at. He ended up paying for my flight lessons but I've had to stop for now because of school. If there's one thing I've learned, getting the plan...

Re: Aviation tidbits and did you knows

Ok, This one is an aviation pop culture tidbit, In the movie Top Gun, since CGI was definitely not an option, Tony Scott actually went to NAS Miramar to arrange F-14s and F-5s (and their pilots) to fly in the movie. All of the flight scenes were performed by instructor pilots and aggressor pilots. T...

Re: Aviation tidbits and did you knows

Most jets now a days use a system called a jet fuel starter. While older Vietnam era jets used cartridges or Auxiliary power units. Basically in an F-16 or 15 the pilot would flip a switch toward the left side after switching the electrical systems on that sends jet fuel to the engine and mechanical...

Re: S1E09 - The Ghost Pilot

Honestly i like that we find out for the first time that chance is a history buff. I get that this ghost is basically their version of the red baron. I guess it would've been to obvious if red lynx flew a tri plane TboneLaughCait

Re: Aviation tidbits and did you knows

Alright here is a tidbit about a plane I have personally flown, the Super Decathlon made by American Champion. From what I have seen it is a common trainer plane for those looking to do aerobatics because it is fairly tame but fun at the same time. This one in the picture is owned by my former boss ...

First attempt was a failure second attempt was good. Launch is at 8:57 and it is taped from the mission specialist seat (by my mom).

Re: Aviation tidbits and did you knows

Alrighty. Here is one about the tomcat...The original acquisition cost of the F-14, quoted by the USN, was 38 million dollars. The Navy actually would love to bring the tomcat back and give it a 5th generation overhaul TurboKatBounce

I wonder what that would look like RazHappy

Aviation tidbits and did you knows

Howdy everyone, I've decided I will start posting some aviation knowledge and history (not limted to American aviation). So here is a tidbit. The F-16 is equipped with a black out function where if the plane gets close enough to the ground, the auto pilot kicks in and levels out the plane or sends i...

TFW you forget you made an account here

Hey everyone, I made an account a while back but forgot about it until now. Anyways Hi from TX, I am a full time student with 40 some odd hours of flight time in my logbook and aircraft manuals crowding my bookcase. I have worked and flown with a world class aerobatics pilot. I have done a few grass...
