If rebooted, what kind of style should the show have?

Talk about the most awesome show in the world, SWAT Kats: The Radical Squadron.

If rebooted, what kind of style should the show have?

One interesting thing about the show's two theme songs is that they are markedly different. The season one theme sounds cheerful and upbeat (at least at the moment where the Swat Kats show up), whereas the season two theme sounds darker and more desperate. The original show seems to attempt to strike a balance between the two themes - it has a lot of lighter, playful moments that utilize jokes and humor, but is also unafraid to incorporate some heavier elements such as subway passengers getting eaten by monsters, political corruption, and deeper emotional themes (i.e. Razor's Edge).

So if the show were rebooted, which way should it lean? Should it have a more lighthearted and cheerful style, similar to the Ninja Turtles cartoon, or should it have a darker aesthetic, similar to something like Batman?

I think that the show could look very stylish if it had a darker theme, and one shouldn't understate the importance of the show's visual appeal. If paired with a richer and more complex artistic style than in the original, the show could really shine. At the same time, there is an already demonstrated potential for lots of humor in the show. If the show is too heavy and gritty, then that might make it harder for the lighter and funnier parts to come through.

Or perhaps there is a middle ground somewhere. What do you think?

I thought you were referring to the animation style, and not its style genre. Well, for both cases I would prefer it to stay the same: no -or little- CGI or Live Action and a balance between comic and funny moments with its serious moments, something like Avatar: The Last Airbender.

At least I don't want a Thundercats Roar or a "Batman Animated Series" with this franchise.

I wonder if they could get one of their older studios back for it. It was great then, and I'm sure they've only improved since then.
