SWAT Kats Series Concept

Post by MoDaD » Sat Aug 18, 2018 12:00 am

Written by David Ehrman (writer of Night of the Dark Kat), this is one of the earliest formalized documents detailing the premise of the show for use by the series' creative staff. Some of the names and concepts (particularly concerning Commander Feral) still haven't reached their finalized versions, and some don't ever appear at all (such as the villain Nimbus).

Will eventually be added to SWATKATS.info, but it's available for viewing here.

Interesting! In the concept, the story is that Feral IS jealous of Chance and Jake's skills as pilots and does purposefully cut them off and then destroys their careers.

It's a little more ambiguous in the show. I don't think Feral cuts them off at all in the show. It's been a while, but I believe he was flying behind them and they clipped a building on their own? Which doesn't necessarily make it Feral's fault. It's also possible that if they hadn't been so mouthy to commander, they may have kept their jobs and just taken a pay cut. (Maybe not even that. As an adult, I know that buildings have insurance which would have covered the damage. So... the demotion is the punishment for sass-mouthing, not because the money to repair the building can't come from anywhere else.)

Okay, not I'm just rambling. It was just interesting to read this stuff. It got my brain juices flowing.

Interesting how originally Viper's quest was to return himself to normal. By the time they did The Origin of Dr. Viper, of course, he seemed pretty happy with his new form.

I bet Nimbus would have been an awesome villain with crazy Einstein hair, TBone would definitely have his piloting skills tested with all the wind and tornados Nimbus would create.
