I think that Kats it is a modified word from German word katzen (cats). What do you think about my version?

I share the same theory now, it's the look of the words thar carries some kool and radikal meaning. Yet in the logo "the radical squadron is written correctly. Oh. :?

I am sorry for such a long answer. I suppose that finally it was a concurrence if causes. The koolness of letters "katzen" looks extra radical :) And yes, the creators might me inspired with the German equuvalent.

In English-language popular culture the word "kat" is used as an intentional misspelling very often, so it would have been the most obvious choice.

And writing too many words with an "xtreme kool letterz" style would probably have come across as excessive anyway. Too excessive even for 1990s North America. :P
