A short music track inspired by The Descent

Post by Mr. Goodkat » Fri Jan 08, 2016 8:09 am

A while back I imagined how The Descent would look like being a motion comic like Broken Saints, but way more simple, of course. ;)

As I'm currently experimenting with electronic music and recently this little artist/composer-confusion came up in this thread, I've created a short experimental track having a dark mood with a kind of descending sound sequence. Not sure if this would be really fitting as a track for a "The Descent"-soundtrack , but I hope you enjoy it nonetheless.

I call it experimental because I only used just a few elements and didn't spent much time on optimizing it.
Please don't expect too much from it as I'm still at the doorway into the realm of electronic music. ;)

About Broken Saints: if you haven't seen it already you can watch the whole story as a flash comic (that's the way it was made originally) on the website I've linked above. But I let me give you a fair warning. With an approximate running time of 720 minutes that comic is a monster to watch (the three creators needed about 3 years to develop it from start to finish). I also like to note that the content is rather mature concerning language and violence at some points.

That really helps to portray the ambiance of a couple of key scenes from Betaruga's comic - Can totally visualize the moments after Dark Kat's offer is made and Chance is making his decision.

Wow! This describes pretty much what I had in mind. Looks like I'm going in the right direction when imagining while composing. 8-)

I think that's how it works. Inspiration is an important ingredient for creativity, no matter what kind of creative work it is.

Thanks for answering me this one so quickly and explicitly, MoDaD.
And without writing words, I'm impressed.

This video is actually very close to that what I have in mind when thinking about a motion comic. :)
I guess it turned out nicely for something that two guys have worked out quick'n'dirty and without discussing it. :D

Can't wait for Betaruga's reply on this video.

Finally back after getting back into the rythmn of studies and work, and I have to say, this is a BEAUTIFUL surprise. :D

So happy about this, because not only do I finally get to see some of your music production, but also that you would dedicate it to Betaruga's awesome comic. The mood of the music is unbelievably dark and fits so well. Really, great job!

Then we've achieved even more than I was actually hoping for. :)

When I worked on the main track I searched for something that would fit to Dark Kat and as his appearance means danger...

I wasn't really sure if the style would fit the comic until I saw the video MoDaD released shortly after I posted it.

I'm glad you like it and it's good to hear that also from someone who is performing and composing music for quite some time. Thanks! :D
