Cartoon Brew on the Space Jam sequel trailer

Post by Rusakov » Sun Apr 04, 2021 2:46 pm

You'll Need To Rest After Watching The Trailer For 'Space Jam: A New Legacy'
The film is called Space Jam: A New Legacy, but a better title might have been Space Jam: Everything but the Kitchen Sink. The first trailer, released this morning, is a “manic” (that’s Warner Bros.’ own description) blend of live-action, animation, and vfx, plus seemingly every IP owned by Warnermedia, including The Iron Giant, the Hanna-Barbera universe, the DC universe, A Clockwork Orange, Thundercats, and The Game of Thrones.
The whole article is at the link.

Will the massive number of cameos get you guys to watch it, or skip it?

(Personally, I'll wait for a home release. Space Jam didn't interest me a ton even when I was a kid.)

If it makes it to Netflix, I'll consider renting it. Otherwise, the changes made to a few characters gives me enough of an idea of what kind of movie it's likely to be.

I'll be surprised if any SWAT Kats characters even appear in the background, I'm looking forward to the movie since I was a fan of the old one as well.

Having learned a bit more, I'll definitely be renting it just to see what kind of review I'll be leaving on it. Let's just say that the removal of one character over an issue they addressed in a scene they cut was one thing. Adding in a group that attempted to take the reason they cut the one character for to it's conclusion, though? I genuinely hope it flops.

I figure I'd just bump the topic, I don't have enough to say to justify a new thread.

In terms of revenue, the film is doing very well.

Some critics, however, are of the opinion that it comes across as little more than a 2.5 hour advertisement for HBO Max.

Yeah, not really my thing.

Last Sunday: Box Office: ‘Space Jam: A New Legacy’ Beats ‘Black Widow’ in Surprise Victory

Yesterday: Friday Box Office: ‘Space Jam’ Plunges 77%

Of course it's pretty much impossible to compare this to what a normal year's release would be like (for obvious reasons). But this could help provide a baseline for comparison.

I enjoyed the movie, Porky's scene was funny and the special cameo made me laugh. Didn't really like Zendaya as Lola, and Lebron wasn't a good actor.

Did you go to the theater or did you stream it? If you went to the theater, would you say it was worth the ticket price and the snacks?

Well, from what little I've seen in reviews from Spanish-speaking youtubers, the film is not doing so well outside the United States.

In general, they all agree:

- The Looney Toons part is the best, but very short.
- The story is very simplistic and boring.
- The Looney Toons are in the background.
- Le Bron James is... a terrible actor, and doesn't have the charisma of Michael Jordan.

Theatre and good lord no, tickets are $11 each. That plus two medium drinks and a medium popcorn, came to around $45. I want a refund and two hours of my life back. RazorPainCait
