Cartoon Network's Tragic 5 Week Schedule and Management

Post by Rusakov » Wed Jan 01, 2020 12:31 am

Think of this as a belated sequel to my previous CN thread.

Now, before I begin, I want to give a little bit of background. Cartoon Network has improved in one way: they're giving less air time to Teen Titans Go. But I'm kind of sick of The Amazing World of Gumball, even though it's a good show.

Why would that be? Well...

...that's why.

Over a 5-week period over 70 percent of Cartoon Network's schedule consisted solely of Gumball and Teen Titans Go.

And apparently Cartoon Network is getting a new interim president to replace Christina Miller.

I really hope the interim manager can help clean things up a bit. Then again the past two consecutive changes in management sucked, so that's not a given. RazorAnnoyedCait

It's just amazing to me that they have a huge library of stuff to choose from (cartoons from the beginning of cartoons up until now) and run pretty much nothing but two specific shows day in, day out.

How's the situation on Boomerang? he asked, dreading the answer. scaredmanxicon

Still like those old time cartoon shows!
That animation just soothes the soul!
I reminisce about the days of old!
With those old time cartoon shows!

I regret nothing.

The only retro shows aired on Boomerang (to my knowledge) are the original Looney Tunes and Tom and Jerry. The rest of the shows are where Cartoon Network dumps recent series it doesn't want to air.

The only Scooby Doo series they're airing is Be Cool, Scooby Doo, aka the Scooby Doo series that looks like Family Guy.

It looks like the closest thing to Boomerang now is the upcoming HBO Max service. I can't afford that stuff! MadkatDownIcon

I figure this is the best place to put it, and it's not enough to create an entirely new thread.

Company Man recently covered the topic of Cartoon Network and it's an interesting watch. The Turner stuff is fairly well-known around here, and things like Adult Swim and the relevance Toonami had (particularly in helping to foster the mainstreaming of anime in the USA) are downplayed, but it does cover some of the issues of program scheduling.
